Modular Kindergartens by Summary Studio Redefine Prefabrication in Lisbon – Part 2: Conceptual Framework and Constructive Logic
Continuing Summary Studio’s pursuit of innovation through prefabricated architecture, Part 2 explores the underlying system that brings clarity and elegance to the Prefab Kindergartens project in Lisbon. Conceived by architect Samuel Gonçalves, the scheme refines a modular language rooted in reinforced concrete, evolving the studio’s earlier work with the Gomos System into a new typology tailored for civic purpose. Central to the project is a deep consideration of process—where construction sequence, material selection and spatial planning converge to define not only the form, but the function and identity of each building.
Through a methodical orchestration of prefabrication, these kindergartens reveal the architectural potential of repetition, achieving both construction efficiency and urban resonance.
